LIFE Academy runs full OET mock tests for nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, at our institute in Bharatpur 12, Chitwan, and online across Nepal. Every mock test follows the real exam format and timing, and every one comes back with feedback: Reading and Listening answers reviewed in real time, written feedback on your letter, and a live Speaking session with a teacher.

We hold over 100 mock test sets, and new sets are added as you progress through your preparation. You can sit test after test without repeating a paper you have already seen — which matters, because a familiar paper measures your memory rather than your English.

What You Get Back

Reading and Listening — answers and review in real time

You get your answers and your score as soon as the test ends, and then go through them with a teacher. The point is not the number. It is seeing which question types you lose marks on, and why — missing a Part A answer because you reworded it, or losing Part C questions because you were answering on detail rather than on attitude.

Writing — comprehensive feedback on your letter

Your letter is marked and returned with detailed feedback against the criteria the real examiners use: Purpose, Content, Conciseness and Clarity, Genre and Style, Organisation and Layout, and Language. Most candidates discover their marks are being lost on Purpose and Content rather than on grammar, which changes what they practise next.

Speaking — a real-time session

Speaking is done live with a teacher playing the interlocutor, in the same structure as the exam: preparation time, then the role-play. You get feedback straight afterwards, on both the linguistic criteria and the clinical communication criteria.

Why Mock Tests Make the Difference

  • The OET is lost on timing more often than on English. Part A of Reading gives you 15 minutes for 20 questions, and no amount of vocabulary saves you if you have never practised at that speed.
  • The Listening audio plays once. Candidates who have only practised with a pause button discover this on exam day.
  • Writing is marked on six criteria, and candidates rarely guess which one is costing them the grade. Feedback tells you; self-study does not.
  • Speaking in front of an interlocutor is a different task from speaking confidently with colleagues. The first time should not be the real exam.
  • A mock test gives you a realistic score before you pay the exam fee — useful when the test costs far more than the practice.
  • Repeat tests show whether what you changed actually worked. One mock test gives you a number; a series gives you a direction.

The OET Format in Brief

Every mock test follows this structure, with the same timings as the real exam.

Sub-testTimeFormatKey point
Listening40–45 mins42 questions. Part A: 2 consultations (24, note completion). Part B: 6 workplace extracts (6 MCQs). Part C: 2 presentations (12 MCQs)Audio plays only once
Reading60 mins42 questions. Part A: 4 short texts, 20 questions (15 mins). Parts B and C: workplace extracts and 2 long texts (45 mins)Part A answers must be copied exactly
Writing45 minsOne profession-specific letter from case notes (5 mins reading + 40 mins writing), about 180–200 words6 criteria; Grade B target 2/3 for Purpose, 5/7 for the rest
SpeakingAbout 20 mins2 role-plays (3 mins preparation + 5 mins each) with an interlocutor9 criteria, linguistic and clinical

Each sub-test is scored from 0 to 500 and mapped to a grade from A to E. Most regulators expect at least 350, which is Grade B, in all four sub-tests. As a benchmark, 29 out of 42 in Listening and in Reading is around a passing grade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be enrolled in a course to take a mock test?

No. Mock tests can be booked on their own, whether you are preparing with us, with another institute, or by yourself. Many candidates come to us only for the mock tests, especially for the Writing feedback and the live Speaking practice.

How many mock tests should I take?

One tells you where you stand. A series tells you whether you are improving, which is the more useful answer. The ten-test package exists for that reason — spaced over your preparation, so each test measures a change rather than repeating the same result.

How soon do I get my results and feedback?

Reading and Listening answers and scores come immediately after the test, and you review them with a teacher the same day. Writing feedback is returned with detailed comments against all six criteria. Speaking feedback is given straight after the live session.

Can I take mock tests online from outside Chitwan?

Yes. The online package costs NPR 6,000 and gives you hundreds of Listening, Reading and Writing practice sets, plus two live Speaking sessions with a former official OET examiner. Feedback is the same as at the institute: answers and review for Reading and Listening, and detailed written feedback on your letters.

Is the Speaking test practised with a real interlocutor?

Yes, live with a teacher, in the exam structure — preparation time, then the role-play, then feedback. LIFE Academy is the first and only OET-certified institute in Chitwan, and our team includes a former OET interlocutor and official OET administrators.

Will my mock test score match my real OET score?

A mock test is an indication, not a guarantee. It is marked on the same criteria and run to the same timing, so it is a fair signal of where you stand — but exam day conditions, nerves and the particular paper all play a part. Treat a mock score as a guide to what to work on next, not as a prediction.
